Starter for 10

Watched this again on DVD. I saw it in the theaters when it was in limited release a few months ago. Now it's finally out on DVD. Definitley worth a look. This is a sweet, funny (and at times actually touching) coming of age story set to the soundtrack of the Cure. Though the film borrows a lot from the John Hughes films of the 80s, the genuineness of the main character, Brian Jackson (brilliantly played by James McAvoy) keeps this movie from becoming clichee. This is a story of a young man emerging from his father's shadow and discovering love and himself in the process. Loved it! ****

Highly recommended! I borrowed this from the library and was about halfway through when one of the discs failed! I called every place I could think to get my hands on another copy - Blockbuster, Barnes and Noble, Borders - to no avail. I was so enthralled with the story that I ended up downloading the book online through Project Gutenberg. I then imported the text file into my Mobipocket ebook software and actually read the book on the computer. The next day, I drove to another library and rented the VHS because I couldn't wait two more days for my B&N order to arrive through the mail.
